Preparing…

Wow.  I turned 55 a few days ago.  As a kid growing up, that seemed so impossibly old.  I was sure people at that age were at home in cat-hair covered recliners watching Wheel of Fortune and slurping up creamed corn.  Their socks wouldn’t match and during each TV commercial, they would glance out the front window to ensure the neighbor’s dog was not squatting on their lawn.

One of my favorite drummer photos

I have little doubt that one day, I’ll wax on about when we stored computer programs on audio cassette tapes and printed with daisy wheels.  But for now, 55 seems like I’m nearing the age when people might begin to expect me to act more like an adult.  I hope to disappoint them as long as possible — which brings me to the topic of Africa.  See how old people can get distracted and then jump into a new topic?

It has been a year since Beth and I were in Ghana with Matthew and Michael.  Our next trip is a little more than a week away, and Beth and I are up late preparing gear, transcoding video, and packing all the tech needed for another recording trip to northern Ghana.  This time, Kaitlyn and Daniel, friends from Church, will be joining us.  Our schedule will be packed, and this time we will be venturing even further north toward Burkina Faso and Togo to record the Bimoba people.  We will also be meeting the Fulani, a nomadic tribe that roam from Senegal to Chad and the Sudan.

There is much work to do before we leave…

BTW, if you are new here, visit the About page to meet the people of Ghana, hear their languages, and enjoy their songs.  Look through the Photos! page and enjoy the smiling faces of the Komba, Dagomba, and Mamprusi people.  You can also look back on the Previous trips.

Our flight departs October 4th…

  1. Praying for the team and so excited about the audio Bibles being available soon in new languages! It is just amazing how God is using this technology to bring unreached people to a saving faith in Christ! Good work faithful servants!
