We slept well. The deep sleep of a destination accomplished.<\/p>\n<p>In the morning we attended Church.\u00a0 I apologize for not getting fantastic pictures from church, but I only had my SLR with me, and decided the service was not loud enough to cover my loud camera.\u00a0 I promise I&#8217;ll get some in the villages. But you can use your imagination&#8230; brightly colored dresses, little kids with tightly braided hair, some of the men in what looks like batik PJs. I think Beth agrees I need some :-)<\/p>\n<p>The flight just after noon to Tamale was mostly uneventful, but the rookie pilot had trouble with the landing.\u00a0 Ray wore a fantasticly large grin as he picked us up with his new 4&#215;4. He is excited to have us visiting for a week, and our schedule is packed in Ray-style sun-up to sun-down action.\u00a0 I&#8217;m already looking forward to our day off in Lisbon on the way back home :-)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_92901.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-294\" title=\"termite mound\" alt=\"termite mound\" src=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_92901.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"469\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_92901.jpg 600w, https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_92901-300x234.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 This area of northern Ghana is hot and dry. Termite mounds and round mud huts dot the countryside. Ray explained that the weather was ideal right now, and would be hotter in two months. I get lightheaded just thinking about it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_93271.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-292\" alt=\"Tamale's Largest Mosque\" src=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_93271.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"487\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_93271.jpg 700w, https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_93271-300x208.jpg 300w, https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_93271-624x434.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After dropping off most of our gear at the guest house, we headed to a local radio station.\u00a0 A very friendly man there named Thomas had some praise music in one of the local languages: Dagbani.\u00a0 We will use it for the audio players, but really want the language Komba or Konkomba, which are the dialects used by the Konkomba people.\u00a0 However, Ray has arranged for local singers, drummers, and everything once we make it up even further north and east.\u00a0 Thomas promised to start looking for Konkomba music and will contact Ray if he finds any.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a 1 minute sample of the music we received from Thomas:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/dagbani.mp3\">dagbani worhip music<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_9320.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-285\" alt=\"DSC_9320\" src=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_9320.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_9320.jpg 600w, https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_9320-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_9312.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-284\" alt=\"Pete &amp; Thomas\" src=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_9312.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_9312.jpg 600w, https:\/\/leopardshark.com\/ghana-trips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_9312-300x233.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With our radio station visit such a quick and short success, we took the opportunity to drive and meet a couple of Ray&#8217;s friends, and evaluate some of the local accomodations if a large 20 person team were to some day head up here.\u00a0 We also dropped in a small market and bought food supplies.\u00a0 The local diet here consists of a lot of seasoned rice, sometimes with fish or chicken.\u00a0 However, up here in Tamale, we see a lot of goats too&#8230; wandering the neighborhoods and along the streets.\u00a0 We drove past a local sidewalk butcher was preparing a sale. No photos or descriptions supplied.
